In Sweden, a car lives on average about 17 years, before it is time for scrapping.

Car manufacturers and car importers are subject to producer responsibility for end-of-life cars, i.e. you have a responsibility to ensure that the car, on the day it is used up, is taken care of in an environmentally correct way.

Producer responsibility stipulates that the end-of-life car must be recycled to at least 95 percent.

Producer responsibility also means that end-of-life cars must be received free of charge in a nationwide reception system.
